Teede ja tänavate liigitus lähtub nende olulisusest teedevõrgustikus (mitte laiusest, kattematerjalist vms). Lähtekohad olulisuse hindamiseks on Riiklik Teeregister ja kohalike omavalitsuste õigusaktid (nt. Tallinna tänavate liigitus).

highway motorway way Kiirtee -- Eestis ei ole. Eraldusribaga tee, enamasti mõlemas suunas vähemalt kaks sõidurada ning kattega teepeenar hädaolukordade tarbeks. Eri riikides kasutusel nt. nimetused freeway, autobahn.
highway trunk way E-tähistusega põhimaantee (Tallinn-Narva (E20), Tallinn-Tartu-Võru-Luhamaa (E263), Jõhvi-Tartu-Valga (E264), Tallinn-Pärnu-Ikla (E67), Tallinn-Paldiski, Tallinna ringtee (E265)). Asulais -- samade trasside osad.

highway bus_guideway way Spetsiaalne juht-rada ühistranspordile (võimaldades sõidukitel liikuda neid juhi poolt roolimata).
highway escape way For runaway truck ramps, runaway truck lanes, emergency escape ramps, or truck arrester beds. It enables vehicles with braking failure to safely stop.
highway raceway way Ringrada.

highway corridor way For a hallway inside of a building.
highway path way Rada (nt. jalgrada metsas).
highway via_ferrata way A via ferrata is a route equipped with fixed cables, stemples, ladders, and bridges in order to increase ease and security for climbers. These via ferrata require equipment : climbing harness, shock absorber and two short lengths of rope, but do not require a long rope as for climbing.

When sidewalk/crosswalk is tagged as a separate way

footway sidewalk way Sidewalk that runs typically along residential road. Use in combination with highway=footway or highway=path
footway crossing way Ülekäigurada.
footway traffic_island way The way between two crossings, safespot for pedestrians, has micromapping characteristics as a detailed alternative to =*. Use in combination with highway=footway or highway=path.

cycleway opposite way Deprecated variant for ways with oneway=yes where it is legally permitted to cycle in both directions. Replaced by oneway:bicycle=no.
cycleway opposite_lane way Deprecated variant for ways with oneway=yes that have a cycling lane going the opposite direction of normal traffic flow (a "contraflow" lane). Replaced by oneway:bicycle=no + cycleway:left=lane/cycleway:right=lane + cycleway:left:oneway=-1/cycleway:right:oneway=-1.
cycleway track way A track provides a route that is separated from traffic. In the United States, this term is often used to refer to bike lanes that are separated from lanes for cars by pavement buffers, bollards, parking lanes, and curbs. Note that a cycle track may alternatively be drawn as a separate way next to the road which is tagged as highway=cycleway.
cycleway opposite_track way Deprecated variant for ways with oneway=yes that have a cycling track going the opposite direction of normal traffic flow. Replaced by oneway:bicycle=no + cycleway:left=track/cycleway:right=track + cycleway:left:oneway=-1/cycleway:right:oneway=-1.
cycleway share_busway way There is a bus lane that cyclists are permitted to use.
cycleway opposite_share_busway way Deprecated variant for ways with oneway=yes that have a bus lane that cyclists are also permitted to use, and which go in the opposite direction to normal traffic flow (a "contraflow" bus lane). Replaced by oneway:bicycle=no + cycleway:left=share_busway/cycleway:right=share_busway + cycleway:left:oneway=-1/cycleway:right:oneway=-1.
cycleway shared_lane way Cyclists share a lane with motor vehicles, there are markings reminding about this. In some places these markings are known as "sharrows" ('sharing arrows') and this is the tag to use for those.

  • Võtsin ettepanekust maha Tallinnas tõstetud sõidukiirusega tänavate tähistamise trunk ning asendasin E-trasside osade tähistamise asulais trunk. --Joosep-Georg 18:46, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
  • Eksperimenteerisin natuke Tallinnas ja tulemus pole ikkagi väga hea -- http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=59.39377&lon=24.69105&zoom=15&layers=M On näha, et tekivad sellised suhteliselt ebaühtlased pildid. Samas kui vaadata näiteks Maa-ameti pilti, on see palju ilusam -- http://skip.nonsense.ee/_static/_img/OSM/ Seda annaks saavutada näiteks nii, et piltidel olevad oranžid tänavad (riigimaanteede trassid) oleks 'primary', teised põhitänavad 'secondary' ja jaotustänavad 'tertiary'. 'Unclassified' jääks siis muude kasutavamate tänavate tähistamiseks (näiteks ühistranspordiga kõrval- ja veotänavad). --Joosep-Georg 12:13, 14 November 2010 (UTC)


  • Riigimaanteede klassifikatsiooni põhiosas aste kõrgemaks muuta pole minu arust vaja. Praegune jaotus on loogiline, osm.org vaikimisi kaardipilt on küll nigel, aga see on omaette küsimus. Kõrvalmaanteid olulisteks ja vähemolulisteks jaotada pole ka minu arust mõistlik, parem on jätta kõik highway=tertiary, aga täpsustada neid lisatagidega (surface=*, lanes=* - vähemolulised unpaved ja laiuseks 1.5 või isegi 1 rida, olulisemad paved/asphalt/vms ja 2 rida), mille alusel saaks neid ka vastavalt renderdada.
    • Üldiselt olen nõus, et laustõstmine primary->trunk pole kõige parem. Aga kõrvalmaanteede lahkulöömisest -- on näiteks laiu asfaltkattega kõrvalmaanteid, mis omavad vaid lokaalset tähtsust või isegi seda mitte (nt. Raasiku alevikus Võidu tn ja Tehase tee -- esimene on tegelikkuses väike vaikne tänav, teine sisuliselt tupik, aga on teeregistris kõrvalmaanteedena ja teenumbridki olemas). --Joosep-Georg 12:15, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
      • Sellised näiteid on tõesti, aga üldisest kõrvalmaanteede hulgast siiski vähe ning ma ei hakkaks vaid seetõttu neid kaheks jagama. Suuremates asulates saab niikuinii teede jaotust vajadusel kohandada (aga kas suurem asula peaks olema ainult linn, või ka alevik nagu Raasiku või nt Viimsi või Harku vald?). Kumbki lahendus pole ses mõttes ideaalne - ei praegune ega sinu välja pakutud. K 21:33, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

  • Lihtne võimalus olulised teed naabritega ühtlustada oleks klassifitseerida E-teed highway=trunk - ehk 5 põhimaanteed muuta primary'st trunkiks (Tallinn-Tartu-Võru-Luhamaa, Jõhvi-Tartu-Valga, Tallinn-Pärnu-Ikla, Riia-Pihkva, Tallinna ringtee-Paldiski). Sel juhul poleks enam probleemi, et ühel pool piiri on trunk, teisel pool primary.

  • Linnades võiks highway=trunk jätta suurema lubatud kiirusega neljarealistele teedele (ja E-teedele?). Umbes nagu Soomes: Serving traffic mainly through the region/municipality or traffic into and out of a city, it has for the most part a speed limit of at least 70 km/h and it's either...

    • Nõus -- E-teed tulevad linna sisse rohelistena ja võikski olla seda lõpuni (alguseni). Lisaks siis Järvevana tee ja Laagna tee (Lasnamäe kanal). highway=primary tänavaid oleks seejuures Tallinnas ca 50 lõiku (põhitänavad ilma nimetatuteta), highway=secondary ca 80 lõiku (ühistranspordiga jaotustänavad) ja highway=tertiary ca 70 lõiku (ühistranspordita jaotustänavad ja ühistranspordiga kõrvaltänavad ja veotänavad), kui teha selline jaotus. --Joosep-Georg 12:15, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
      • Lähinaabrite suuremaid linnu tundub olevad kaks lähenemisviisi: kas E-tee/põhimaantee/vms on linnas tervenisti highway=trunk või siis on highway=trunk ainult suurema piirkiirusega vähemalt neljarealine tee. Helsingi, Stockholm ja Peterburi tunduvad kasutavat teist varianti, Riias jälle läheb mitu highway=trunk läbi kesklinna. Mina eelistan teist varianti, st et Tallinnas oleks highway=trunk vaid Järvevana tee, Laagna tee ja Peterburi tee lõpuosa ning ka Paldiski mnt Haabersti ringist Merimetsani. Vast ka Tartu mnt alates Ülemiste ristmikust. K 21:33, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
